2010 SCHOLARSHIPS

Five seniors from the class of 2010 were awarded Alumni Association Scholarships at the senior awards program held at the high school on June 10th.  Seori Park received the class of 1953 scholarship. She will be attending Boston College where she will be majoring in biology. While at CHS, Seori was involved in the marching band where she held the title of Drum Major and played the flute and piccolo. She was also part of the jazz band, percussion ensemble, and the musical pit. She also was inducted into the National Honor Society and the French National Honors Society. Park plays piano at her church. She hopes to join the marching band while at Boston and play a completely different. Lauren Wilson received the Eleanor Huston Scott ‘36/Roger M. Scott ‘36 scholarship. Lauren will be attending Wheaton College. She has not decided on a major at the time of this writing. The Cheltonian, the school newspaper commented on her “commitment to excellence over the past four years is undeniable.” She was in the fall play three years, the spring musical for four years, symphonic orchestra, honors choir, touring ensemble, and Up the Octave, a female a cappella group. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the science fair for two years. Lauren was also on the volleyball team in her freshman year. Her community activities included involvement in her church band and community babysitting. It’s off to West Chester University for Adam Heath where he will be majoring in Criminal Justice. He has received the G.R. “Bill” Rittenhouse, ’36 scholarship. While at CHS Adam  was involved in a mock presidential debate and the“fishbowl” on the achievement gap. He also was a Constitution Scholar. He was on the winter and spring track teams. His community activities included a food drive, Martin Luther King Day and the Dufar Rally. The class of 1952 scholarship was awarded to Eleanor Roberts. Eleanor will be attending Princeton University where she will major in History. Activities while at CHS included National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, French Honor Society, the school newspaper, science fair, SADD, and the ski & snowboard club. Eleanor was also involved in athletic activities which included cross country, winter & spring track and soccer. Her community activities included being a Docent at the Wall House and guest chef at Ronald McDonald House. Meghan Huang has received the Dr. Jerome I. Marcus, ’68 scholarship. Meghan will be attending Swarthmore College where she will be majoring in Psychology. Meghan was involved in the CHS Marching Band, Wind Ensemble and Orchestra. She was inducted into the National Honor Society and the French Honor Society.

 

The Alumni Association wishes our scholarship winners the best as they move on to the next phase of their lives.

2008 SCHOLARSHIPS

 

The Alumni Association awarded seven scholarships to members of the class of 2008.  These scholarships reflect the Alumni Association’s continued commitment to the Cheltenham High School community.   All seven winners met the requirements established by the CHS Alumni Association.

SCHOLARSHIP FUND

 

One of  our primary goals is to provide  financial assistance to qualified students continuing their academic or vocational education.

 

Since 1980 we have awarded an estimated $85,000. in scholarships. These grants have mostly been drawn from capital raised from membership dues, which cannot continue.     We have re-established a scholarship fund-raising program that is part of our by-laws. We hope this program will eventually generate enough interest to provide ten $500. scholarships per year.  You can help us attain this goal by sending your tax-deductible contribution TODAY!  Any amount is most welcome; but the following donation categories were established by the Alumni Association.
